Dr. Ahmad Zuhaidi Bin Yahya

Dr. Ahmad Zuhaidi Yahya is the Head of Biotechnology Division at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) since 2014. He started his career as a junior forest officer in SAFODA in which led him to join the Forestry Department in Johore until 1986. He then continued as a researcher in FRIM from 1987 until present which in total he has spent about 29 years in FRIM. Dr. Ahmad Zuhaidi is also a technical adviser, consultant and project leader for various projects; Afforestation of ex tin mining lands in Rahman Hydraulic Tin, Afforestation of ex gold mining land in J Resources, Reforestation of old plantation with indigenous tree species, UTM and JAWALA Corporation Forest Industry, Tawau just to name a few. Dr. Ahmad Zuhaidi has shown interest in Plantation Silviculture of Various Plantation Species and Growth and Yield Modeling of Planted Forests and he was also involved in technical works on Afforestation and Reforestation of Marginal Lands, Establishment of New Forests. His passion in the forestry department started as early as 1978 in Forestry College Kepong, FRI under the Mara Institute of Technology. He continued his tertiary education in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, Scotland and completed both Masters and PhD in Forestry in 1990 and 2004 respectively. Dr. Ahmad Zuhaidi has published more than 25 journals in Journal of Tropical Forest Science, TREES; presented and published over 70 papers in international and national proceedings and he is also a member and country representative of TEAKNETAsia-Pacific Network on Research and Development of Teak.
