Mr. Rajan Samikannoo

Mr. Rajan Samikannoo is the Senior Manager of Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC). He started his career as the Director of Industry Development at Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) from 1999 until 2011 and from 2012 to 2014, he was the Director of Enforcement and Registration at MTIB. He then continued to serve as a Project Coordinator of UNDP from 2014 to 2015 before he joined the MTCC in January 2016 until present. Among his remarkable achievements; completed several of MTIB’s flagship projects, secured budget, plan, implement and completed 5 major projects totalling budget in excess of RM52 million, completed the Peninsular Malaysia ‘Country Specific Guideline, (CSG) in relation to the Australian Illegal Logging Prohibition Amendment Regulation 2013 and co-authored two ITTO publications related to timber trade and presented several papers at national, regional and international levels. Prior to his excellence service, Mr. Rajan has also received awards; MTIB’s Excellent Service Award twice in 1994 and 2009, Pingat Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP) in 2003 and the chairman of several committees. Mr. Rajan is a holder of BSc (Hon) majoring in Chemistry from Universiti Malaya (UM) and MSc in Wood Industries Technology from University of Wales.
